After work, I drove to my brother Jay’s place in Washougal and he was not back from hiking with his daughter Kati.  Jay's son Nick tried calling him and could not reach him. When Jay showed up we finished packing my car and drove to Spokane.  We arrived at our hotel around 11:00 PM and as we were checking into the hotel Dad and Dave showed up.  We talked a little and then went to sleep.

Jay had woken up early and was walking around.  When I woke up, I took a shower and found that I had forgotten to bring a comb, deodorant and a razor.  I walked a long ways looking for a store.  Jay called my new cell phone to locate me and I told him I was on my way back.  Then we packed my car. Next we took dad and Dave for a walk to the Spokane waterfalls in a park near the hotel.  As we were talking, Greg pulled up and then we tried to eat at Anthony's, but it was not open yet.  Then we all drove to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  I did not want to pay for valet parking at the hotel, so I went through a lot to avoid it.  I was able to get temporary free parking and then got a pass to put my car in the garage at the hotel.  We ended up eating very light and then renting a powerboat. The boat did not seem that exciting to me, but everyone else really enjoyed it.  Next Dave, Jay, Greg and I biked on a trail along the shore of Coeur d'Alene Lake.   Dave and Greg had to rent bikes.  We got back to the motel around 5:00 PM and took dad out to dinner in town.  We planned on going to the Cricket to eat, but Greg thought it was not fancy enough, so we went to a fancier restaurant.  The class of a restaurant is not important to me (I like bar food), but everyone else likes to eat expensively.

By this time in the trip, I was tired of listening to Greg brag about all his great investments. He was bragging about how he bought this or that for several thousand or even over 100 thousand dollars.  It seems to be exactly the talk my dad enjoys, so the trip was great in that since. It was a great family bonding experience. I felt relieved to get away from the money talk when Greg, Dave and dad decided to golf.  Jay and I ended up biked about half of the trail of Coeur d'Alene (the total trail is about 73 miles, we cycled a round trip ride of 64.4 miles).  We drove from Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho to Kellogg, Idaho to park my car. Then we cycled to the north end of the trail (Mullan, Idaho) and then turned around to head back to Kellogg. Jay wanted to make it a 50-mile bike ride day.  I convened him if we just went another 13 miles, it would be 100 Kilometer. To me 100 KM is a lot more impressive than 50 miles. So we cycled in the other direction on the trail of Coeur d’Alene to mile post 40 (near Dudley, Idaho). Jay told Dad, Greg and Dave that we would be back at 2:30 PM. We were running late so Jay called Greg to tell him we would not be back until around 7:00 PM.  Greg said that he wished he had gone with us, his golf game was not going so good.  We cycled back to Kellogg and then drove back to Coeur d’Alene. Once back at the hotel, we went to an expensive dinner with Greg, Dave and Dad.  We stayed in a very nice hotel, which seemed too expensive for to Jay and me.  However, it was perfect for Dave, Greg and Dad. The trip was about having a fun family trip with my dad and it was fun for sure!

I woke up early and hiked around the short hill trail across from the hotel.  Then we all had breakfast together.  Greg had to leave at 11:00 AM.  The rest of us left the hotel around noon.  I was very tired and Jay drove my car back for the first half of the trip while I slept.  I drove the rest of the way home.  We got to Jay's place around 6:00 PM and I arrived at Andrea's house around 8:00 PM.  Andrea was not home; she had gone to Aberdeen for the day and got home around 10:00 PM.  I ended up going on a little more than a 7-mile bike ride while I was waiting for Andrea to get back to her place.
