1. Flight out of Portland was at 5:00 AM
2. Only had a 55-minute layover in Houston and it went smooth (no terminal change to international) and even my luggage made it to Acapulco, Mexico.
3. My hotel in Acapulco was closed for renovation and they put me in a very nice hotel at the same price.
4. My ATM card did not work in Acapulco.

1. Visited Puerto Angel, Mexico.
2, I stayed across from the Hotel Barcello an expensive all inclusive place that Andrea once paid for us to stay at in 2008.
2. Had trouble finding a path to beach, got scolded for trying to get to the beach through a hotel.
3. The beaches are very nice, but seem to be artificial Mexico. More like Florida beaches, almost everyone on the beach was an Anglo.

1. Could not flush toilet in the morning, they turn off the water in the hotel at nights.
2. Cycled over a hill to avoid highway tunnel
3. Had trouble finding bus station in Salina Cruz.
4. I met some Mexican people that spoke good English at the bus station in Salina Cruz (one of them lived in California)

1. My alarm clock went off in the bus at 6:00 AM.
2. On the way to Guatemala boarder we got searched by the police.
3. Going the about 80 miles from Tapachula , Mexico to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala required taking 2 taxis, 4 Tutu and 2 buses.
Expenses: 40 Pesos and 325 GTQ – Transportation, hotel, tip at border and food.
Accommodations: Slept at Barcelona Hotel in Quetzaltenango , Guatemala

1. Got help from my Mexican friends finding a direct bus to Panajachel
2. The bus with my luggage moved while I was in the bathroom.
3. Hard to find hotel in Panajachel.
4. I found no ticket booth or ferry schedule where the boats take off.
5. Lake Amatitlán with Volcanos in the background.

1. Setup transportation at travel agent for rest of trip. I was way over charged.
2. Cycled the park entry road to get in my daily 17 miles of biking.
3. Took a guided Tikal park sunset tour.
4. Got some mosquito bites.
5. On the tour we saw monkeys, turkey, pheasant, a toucan, coati and a Agouti.

1. Cycled in the slight mist and got a bit muddy.
2. A kid with a flat tire on his bike asked me for help. I felt bad about not trying to help him.
3. Slow bus ride from Rio Dulce to Guatemala City – over 8 hours to go about 180 miles.

Location: Flight from Guatemala City, Guatemala to Houston, Texas, USA to Portland, Oregon, USA
Points of interest:
1. Walked around Guatemala City, Zone 9 in the morning. Not much to see.
2. Took a taxi to the airport.
3. Bought a lot of souvenirs at the Guatemala City airport.
4. United 727 planes (both flights) seemed to need some seat maintenance.
5. My flight to Portland I had an empty seat next to mine. Made for a comfortable flight.
Expenses: 325 GTQ and 75 TBD USD – Souvenirs, Taxi, Exit Tax and Luggage Fees.
Accommodations: Slept at home in Portland, Oregon.
