I donated the following bikes to FB4KPorltand.org (bikes for kids) on April 30, 2022.
1) I bought a racing bike at a flea market in Albuquerque and cycled it to Alaska in 1988 (May to August). The bike never worked good after that trip and I kept it for years. It was last ridden about 30 years before I finally got rid of it.
2) I bought a fair road bike at a hock shop in Albuquerque for $20.00. I replaced the gear and chain, then I cycled to bike from New Mexico to Florida in May of 1991. I also used that bike to cycle from San Louis Obispo, California to Tijuana, Mexico in December of 2002. That bike was always big for me, but it did still work when I donated it. However, it was run down.
Most miles on a single bicycle was on my Kona bike, which finally retired at 29,498 miles (47,472 Kilometers). This was a commuter bike and was never taken on a bike trip. On April 25, 2022, my Kona bike had the derailed break and wrap around my rim. I had been updating and fixing things for over a year and the bike was not working well, I just wanted to get to 30,000 miles (48,280 Kilometers). I planned on donating the bike on April 30, 2022, but decided to keep it and see if I could get if fixed to ride it until it reaches 30,000 miles (48,280 Kilometers). I ended up taking too many parts off the bike and got rid of the bike in 2023 with 29,498 miles (47,472 Kilometers)
